The Process
2–3 weeks from design to delivery
We use only the finest clay — sourced from Safi, Morocco's pottery capital, or premium Spanish clay. The quality of the clay defines everything that follows.
Safi Clay · Spanish ClayThe artisan centers the clay on the wheel and shapes the basin entirely by hand — feeling every curve, every angle. No mold, no machine. Pure skill.
On the Wheel · By HandThe shaped basin dries slowly to remove excess moisture — a critical step that prevents cracking during the first kiln firing.
Slow DryThe dried basin is fired in the kiln — transforming raw clay into a solid, durable ceramic structure ready to receive hand-painting.
Kiln-FiredThe artisan draws the pattern directly onto the surface with a pencil — every motif, every geometric line traced by a steady and experienced hand.
Pencil · FreehandColors are applied by hand, layer by layer — cobalt blue, saffron gold, terracotta, white, or fully custom. Each color requires patience and precision.
Layer by Layer · Custom ColorsA second firing fixes the glaze permanently — locking in the colors and creating a food-safe, water-resistant surface built to last decades.
Food-Safe GlazeThe final touch — a hand-applied gold border that elevates the piece from beautiful to extraordinary. Available on all basins as an option.
Optional · 24K Gold FinishEvery basin passes a quality check and is fitted with a standard European drain. Shipped in custom bubble-wrap packaging — arriving safely at your door.
